Do you know if Exchange 2007 has the ability to enforce "empty deleted items upon exiting outlook"
Folks,
Do you know if Exchange 2007 has the ability to enforce "empty deleted items upon exiting outlook? I know, it is possible through GPO. But I would like to know, if it possible
via exchange 2007 server.

You could create a new managed folder policy for the Deleted Items folder to have it delete and allow recovery or permanently delete after one day or something like that.

That, I knew already. I set it to 7 days as a retention period. But if users closes their outlook, it should wipe-out the mails from deleted items folder. Through Outlook, we can automate it. Also, through group policy we can push it all the client machine
which is having outlook client installed.
But in exchange 2007, through powershell...is it possible?

That is a client setting, not something that you can configure through Exchange, other than what has already been suggested.

No. Exchange has no idea that you've exited Outlook. You're asking
about client-side processes. If you have a policy that states that the
deleted items that haven't been modified for more than a day should be
removed then a managed folder policy is the way to deal with it from
the server side.

By the way, in Exchange 2010, you can enforce "Empty the Deleted Items folder when I sign out" for OWA by cmdlet
Set-MailboxMessageConfiguration -EmptyDeletedItemsOnLogoff:
Set-MailboxMessageConfiguration
